Data Chatter Season 2 goes live
It might have come a bit late, but it’s latest (as some old Indian movie joke goes). The second season of my podcast Data Chatter went live yesterday. You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, etc.
If you use a different podcasting engine and cannot see it, let me know and I’ll enable it.
My guest on the first episode is Liz Gebhard, currently a transformation executive at World of Books Group. Liz has worked in data and business roles across (primarily) Target and Amazon for over two decades, starting in analytics, then moving to a series of business roles and then back to setting up BI teams at Amazon.
The thing with Amazon (the same is the case with Uber, I’m told) is that business managers are expected to get their own data, writing their own SQL. So for most of their hires, the first thing that they need to learn is actually SQL.
Liz talks about how this changed the way she deals with (and sets up) data teams. We talk about what makes data teams successful (from a business counterpart’s point of view), how to set up and hire data teams, her experience leading DEI roles at Amazon, and what sets Amazon apart.
I know I’m the host but - listen to the whole thing!
I might have mentioned somewhere (not sure if that was on this blog) that the flavour for Season 2 of Data Chatter is to talk to business leaders on their relationships with data and data teams.
If you know someone who you think will be a good fit for our podcast, do let us know! Until then, listen, enjoy and share.
